Alejandro García

Jano García, freelance Designer and Developer focused on Web-based Products and Services.

Proponent of simplicity. Committed to continuous learning and improvement.

I’m Alejandro, or just Jano, a freelance designer and developer based in Irún, a town near San Sebastián located on the border between Spain and France. Mostly working with agencies, small businesses and startups.

I hold a BEng in Industrial Electronic Engineering from the University of the Basque Country. After graduation I specialized in web design and development, and have been working in this area since late 2007, first at small digital agencies, then at a studio I co-founded and now as a freelancer.

On rare occasions I blog, and every once in a while I speak at the local web design and development group, themelee.org, which I help run.

In my free time I enjoy photography, making music, as well as spending time with my wonderful litte family: my always-supportive partner, Edurne, and our two boys, Leo and Eloy (10 and 12 years old).

About this site

The site design was created in Antetype.

The responsive front-end is coded in HTML5 and CSS3 following OOCSS/BEM principles, using Jade for HTML templating and LESS for CSS preprocessing. It is based on HTML5 Boilerplate and the Bootstrap framework. Minimal JavaScript and jQuery is being used for simple behaviors.

It makes use of the Source Sans Pro and Merriweather fonts, served up by Google, and Linecons Free by Designmodo.

The back-end is built on WordPress plus a few plugins (mostly for caching, security and SEO).

Further site details can be found on this related post.
